WestRidge Murray Greys
WestRidge Murray Greys is a family-owned cattle operation in Idaho, founded and operated by Christine Sponseller. Christine's passion for the Murray Grey breed spans more than a decade, and that passion is reflected in every aspect of how WestRidge is run.
The operation manages a herd of approximately 45 registered females, with 10 to 20 calves registered each year exclusively through the American Murray Grey Association. Over the past six years, Christine has imported more than 100 embryos and semen from three elite Australian bulls — a significant investment that demonstrates her commitment to advancing the breed's genetics and expanding its presence in the United States.
Christine's involvement in the Murray Grey community goes well beyond her own operation. She has served the Northwest Murray Grey Association in multiple leadership roles, including Vice President, Secretary, and currently Treasurer. These positions have given her deep experience in organization, financial management, and advocating for the breed she loves. She is also a current candidate for the General Board of the American Murray Grey Association.
Her goal is straightforward: to raise awareness of the Murray Grey breed so that more producers can benefit from its outstanding qualities. She believes strongly in what this breed has to offer, and is dedicated to helping it grow across the country.
Christine was married to her high school sweetheart for 34 years until his passing in 2024. Together they raised five children and are the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren. Over the years Christine has worked in administrative roles, taught group fitness classes, and devoted much of her life to raising her family and supporting the farm. Today she owns and operates two businesses — WestRidge Murray Greys and a 1,000-acre farm — and brings that same lifelong work ethic and enthusiasm to everything she does.
